Halfway through the month of July there were already a few dozen burglaries, attempted burglaries and auto burglaries that were reported according to spotcrime.com. According to the City of Oakland site, from 2012 to 2013 robbery has increased by 15% and the use of a firearm to commit robbery was at the top of the list for choice of weapon followed by physical force as the next choice. Burglary, in general has decreased by 7% from 2012 to 2013, however, auto burglary has rose from 6,697 incidents in 2012 to 6,928 incidents in 2013 resulting in a 3% increase. Home burglary has decreased 18% from 2012 to 2013, so that only means one thing. Because there is somewhat of a decrease on home burglary, burglars are now targeting your car which is probably parked right in front of your house.
