With all the different options for home security monitoring today, many of our customers have questions about whether they need home phone service or an Internet connection to have an ADT monitored security system. It depends upon the type of security system you have installed and what type of ADT monitoring service you decide is best for you.

We will take a look at the two security systems we install most often. The DSC 9057 Impassa wireless security system and the DSC 1832 Power Series "hybrid" security system that works with hard wired and wireless security devices.

Look at the tables below to help you understand what type of security systems and ADT monitoring services require home phone and Internet services.

For a DSC 9057 Wireless Security System

The wireless DSC 9057 has a built in GSM cellular unit that allows for two way voice monitoring and ADT Pulse Level I over the cellular unit.

For a DSC 1832 "Hybrid" Security System

The DSC 1832 has an external GSM cellular unit that does not give you the ability to do two-way voice or ADT Pulse Level 1 over the cellular. When you have a DSC 1832 installed you will need home phone service anytime you have a monitoring service that includes two-way voice. You will need to have internet service for all ADT Pulse monitoring services.
